About
My name is Desislava Stankova. According to sociologists and psychologist we all have different social roles* in different situations – a father, a lawyer, a designer, a friend, etc. Want to find out more about mine? Read below.
A Professional (lawyer, project manager, consultant and more)
I am an experienced ICT Lawyer and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
In addition to my general education in law, in 2010 I did a specialized Masters in Law and Technology at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, which covered fields such as e-commerce, ICT contracting, liability and the internet, intellectual property law and technology, cybercrime, etc.
My over 10 years of experience includes legal consultancy and IT project management with both fields of expertise crossing in the area of ICT Law, i.e. IT Outsourcing, e-Commerce, Intellectual Property in Software, Privacy and Data Protection, etc.
I have created a unique online course on e-Law for non-lawyers and currently I am working on my next online courses.
An Adventurer
I tend to be an adventurous and cosmopolitan person.
I have spent a considerable amount of time studying, living and working abroad – in the USA, the UK and the Netherlands at different stages of my life.
I am a PADI certified Open Water Diver (OWD) and I still have many seas left to dive.
Occasionally, I do rafting, canyoning and half-marathon running.
OK, the last one is not that adventurous, but it still involves certain risks sometimes, adrenaline and a sense of achievement.
A Speaker and Presenter
Sometimes, I get invited to speak about ICT law and how to protect online assets on conferences, seminars and university lectures.
I won’t lie I am not afraid of public speaking, but I still enjoy it. I have even been selected to be one of the three alumni to give a presentation on our Graduation Day at Tilburg University in 2010. That was a challenge.
The rest of my roles
They are numerous – a friend, a mother, a wife, a traveler, a DIY person, etc.
*According to Wikipedia, a role (also rôle or social role) is a set of connected behaviours, rights, obligations, beliefs, and norms as conceptualised by people in a social situation. It is an expected or free or continuously changing behaviour and may have a given individual social status or social position.
